Tell us what you think about Idle Air. Great idea, or a total waste of perfectly good parking spaces.

It looks interesting - I'm curious as to how well it works. I'm not on the road enough to use it - we run teams and typically run things so we get back with little or no shut-down time.

I am curious about it though!

Can I have two votes?    The third and the last both apply,   I would use it if  I had to stay  where it was   AND MY EMPLOYER PAID FOR IT!!!     But since that ain't happening soon,  the last definitely applies.

I've changed the poll on the left side of the main page to this one. I'd like to get more input from members on their feelings about IdleAir. What do you think?

Shoot, my hubby just backs into that spot like a regular parking spot if the rest is full. Screw paying for a space when u don't use it. And if your past your 14, then guess what?! You should back into it too!

Only hobby truckers have that option.  Grin

I find the results of the poll interesting so far. I'm looking forward to seeing how others will vote. Idle air claims that the reason they have lost tens of millions every year is because the industry hasn't accepted them. I guess our little poll supports that statement.

Lil'Peep did some research on it and posted a thread on it here. From what she's shown me, they are in more than a little trouble. It's almost guaranteed that they'll go bankrupt in time. They are just trying to hold it together to get a little more CEO money from government grants. You know those guys on the board sure as heck aren't doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. Not when you've got people like Clinton's former chief of staff sitting on the board. That guy alone goes for millions.

I tried IdleAire, and I really wanted it to work for me.  It's nice, it's quiet, it supplies electricity, yadda, yadda, yadda.

But what it DOESN'T do is supply FRESH AIR.  It repeatedly takes the same air from your sleeper, heats or cools it, and puts it back into the sleeper.  After a while, the air is stale enough to give me a whopper of a headache.  I quit using it because of this, and I'll only use it if I'm stuck in a "no-idle" area, like LA or somewhere.

I love the IDEA of idleair, but they are WAY over priced in my opinion, just like the cost of
wi-fi at truckstops, I think they should make idleair and wi-fi free as an incentive to stay at their truckstop. In idleairs case, would be be trying to make a deal with the truckstops to cover the base cost of the ac/heat, as an incentive just to get the unit in the window, and hope the truckers would decide while they got it in, the might as well watch a movie, or connect to the net or whatever else is avail, and have advertisements flashing on the screen when not in use. LOL
